How do you find a mentor?

Having a mentor can be a great advantage for an entrepreneur, but how do you go about finding one?  We asked some folks that would know and they’ve provided their insight here.

The best place to start is to spend time evaluating your strengths and seeing where there is room for improvement.

Mentors can inspire you, help enhance your business skills and teach you invaluable lessons but finding a mentor can seem like a daunting task for many business owners. The best place to start is to spend time evaluating your strengths and seeing where there is room for improvement. Taking the time to learn more about yourself will help you understand what traits you may want in a mentor. From there, I would encourage any entrepreneur to keep an open mind and seek out networking events such as industry events, trade groups and business workshops where they may connect with potential mentors. Seek leaders within your industry who have strong values as they can help you avoid common pitfalls and create a path towards success.
